The US has approved the world's first vaccine for use on bees

In the US, the world's first vaccine was approved for use on bees.

According to US medical officials, the vaccine could be a major breakthrough in bee conservation, which has seen an annual decline in bee colonies in the US since 2006.

The vaccine is reportedly being developed to prevent deaths from American foulbrood disease, in which bacteria attack bee larvae and weaken their colonies.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture this week approved a conditional license for the vaccine. The vaccine produces an inactivated version of the bacteria in the queen bee's royal jelly feed, which gives the larvae immunity.

It should be noted that bees play an important role in many aspects of the ecosystem.
