iPhone users are urged to update their handsets to the most recent iOS version immediately, or else they run the danger of losing access to their phones in the future.

That's because an older version of iOS is about to lose key essential functions, such as access to Maps for navigating their city or nation, Siri for voice control of their phone, the App Store for essential apps, and more.

The impending adjustment appears to be focused on iPhones running iOS 11.2.6 or earlier and whose users are unable to use essential software.

The iPhone 5 and older devices will be impacted, but even people carrying an iPhone 7 in their pocket run the risk of being affected if their system software hasn't been updated.

If you don't get a notification telling you to update your iPhone, you can easily do it yourself using the Settings app that comes with the device.

Simply browse to the iPhone's Home Screen, hit the Settings button, and select Settings > Software Update.

To upgrade your iPhone, simply follow the on-screen directions after plugging in your charger and turning on Wi-Fi.

The iPhone 7 can be updated to iOS 15 in order to take advantage of new security features and upgrades even if iOS 16 is not compatible with the iPhone 7.

Apple has not yet acknowledged the rumors concerning iOS 11, however, the American tech behemoth just made an update on its help sites that may corroborate these reports.
